This year I will be broadcasting LIVE monthly cooking shows right from my kitchen, as I share my favorite recipes and cooking strategies with you.  We will also welcome guests from the farming and ranching community into the kitchen from time to time, learning more about how they work to provide us with the food on our dinner tables.

Do you love pie topped with thick, fluffy meringue? Buttery, tender pie crust? Creamy custard pudding? If you just squealed "Yes! Yes! Yes!", this class is definitely for YOU! Join Chef Alli in the Sweet Kitchen as she demonstrates how to create two of her all-time favorite pies: Coconut Meringue and Chocolate Meringue.

What You Will Learn: 

  1. How to make delicate, flaky pie crust in the food processor.
  2. How to roll, transfer, and bake the crust.
  3. How to easily make cream pie fillings from scratch....right in your microwave.
  4. And (maybe most importantly!) how to make meringue that mounds up beautifully, holds its shape, and doesn't shrink back from even the hottest oven!

You'll leave this class with recipes, knowledge of the right tools needed for pie baking success, and how to recreate delicious pies at home for your loved ones. Sweet! (Tastings provided, too, of course.)

Workshops are called workshops because you do just! And while cooking requires trusted recipes and quality ingredients, cooking is also about technique. That said, why not join us in the KG Kitchen to learn the special technique of creating the perfect tamale?? We'll work together to assemble tamales from start to finish.

What You Will Learn:

  1. The basics of creating and working with fresh masa (dough).
  2. How to create the classic tamale pork filling and sauce.
  3. The essential technique of wrapping everything in a corn husk and tying off each tamale.
  4. How to steam tamales in the electric pressure cooker.

You'll leave this class with recipes, knowledge of the tradition of making home-made tamales, and how you can recreate tamales at home. Come hungry, because we'll enjoy a special tamale buffet with the fixin's and an icy cold mexican beer following our class.
